Sick

I’ve been feeling less than well for the last 10 days or so but, whatever it is finally has kicked in full throttle. Headache, sinus/chest congestion, fever, lethargia and general uneasiness. Tylenol Chest Congestion, Alkaseltzer and Advil are the only things keeping me from going totally insane. Go away nasty bug!

Bingo!

Nolan, Vu, Sarah and I went and played Bingo tonight in NE Portland, Talk about a fun cheap night.  None of us won anything be we all got close a couple of times.  I was 2 numbers away from winning $1000 at one point.  There were lots of old people there (typical) but they we’re all friendly.  One lady close to use won $1200 and we thought she was going to have a heart attack :-p.

Anyway, I had fun, if anyone wants to go play bingo with me, I’m down.

Bachelor Party Weekend

Jim’s bachelor party was this weekend which made a for a good time.  It was a suuuuper busy weekend starting Friday night at a Lan Party that Malcolm, Dave Schmeller and I went to (pics coming soon).  The Lan was fun, Malcolm and I got second place in the CS:S tourney.

Vu showed up at around 3:45 and the Lan dissolved at around 4:00AM and we took Malcolm home and then we drove to Shari’s and had breakfast from 5:00am to 6:00am.  Went to sleep sometime after that and woke up at about 2:00pm Saturday and got the ball rolling on the Bachelor party.  We checked into the hotel and filled the bathtub up with ice to keep our beer cold.  We had WAY too much beer.  2 Mini kegs (one Coors Light, one Heinekin), 48 Miller High Life’s and 15 MGD’s.

We left the hotel for Brew Fest around 7:00pm and got 13 tokens each and a mug.  I had about 5 beers at Brew fest ranging from disgusting (Triple Hopped something or other) to Delicious (some foreign style pilsner).  We left Brew fest and went back to the hotel.  I called my cousin and he showed up for a bit.  We ordered 4 pizzas and went down to the pool.  We swam for a bit before getting kicked out (we got in the pool after it was already closed).  We went back to the hotel had a few more beers before heading downtown portland to bar.

We closed the bar out and then walked back to the hotel and crashed.  We got up at 9:40 and had continental breakfast and then left the hotel.  We met up again for Dinner at Gustav’s and then headed to Sam’s Appt. to go swimming.  We swam and then watched some episodes of The Loop and drank the rest of the Heineken keg and then we all went home and went to sleep.

I think the bachelor party was a big success and fun was had by all involved.

Pics of everything coming soon.

no-www.org

A site devoted to dropping www. from domains.  I understand the historic reasons for the www. nomenclature but, I think the ubiquity of sites that respond identically to www.site.com and site.com makes it confusing for users when there is a difference only in name.

I therefore welcome the new prefix free http domain name concept.  xijio.com is already Class A certified.

Been a few days, quick update

I didn’t die in Seattle or anything.  It was a pretty fun weekend, the party at Shea’s was fun and Sunday was pretty lazy.  The drive home was quick; I made it from exit to exit (U-District exit on i5 to mill plain exit on i205) in 2:04.  That means I average 83mph, pretty damn fast.  I could feel the difference with the new exhaust and muffler, more horse power means less slowdown going up hills means higher average speed = win.

I worked at home Monday because my camera was supposed to arrive and no one was around with the parents in the Caribbean.  The DHL guy didn’t show up until 5:20pm, so I stayed home for nothing.  Oh well.  The camera is pretty tight.  I’ve been messing around taking random pictures.  I think I’ll get a lot more out of it this weekend…

…This weekend is Jim’s bachelor party.  He’s getting married Aug. 18th so I had to have it some time.  Right now the plan is to go to beer fest in Portland on Saturday then go to a hotel room and have a hotel party, optionally go to bars downtown afterwards.  The current plan for Sunday is paint balling in the afternoon.  Should be a pretty fun weekend :)

Weekend update

So my interesting day i turning into an interesting weekend.  My camera didn’t come so I called DHL and and they informed me it would be delivered on Monday, oh well. I might try to pick it up on Sunday if it is possible (I doubt it).

The bowling with the team was fun, I got 52 the first round and 108 the second round (I was messing around w/ spin the first round which let me several 0 frames).  If you add my scores together it is almost respectable ;)  I left straight after the bowling to go home, get my bathroom gear and get on I5.  Traffic was fine until I got to Tacoma; I was stopped there fore about 30 minutes of 5mph happiness.  After that cleared up it was fine until about exit 163, just south of Seattle.  It took me 40 minutes to go 6 miles to my exit.  Overall, a 4 hour trip that should have taken only 2 and a half hours.

Once I got up here I ate dinner, BBQ hamburger and hotdogs.  Was very tasty, afterwards we went and saw the new Harry Potter movie at IMAX.  The big fight scene was in 3d, they gave us glasses to put on before the movie began and instructed us to put them on when the screen ‘got real blurry’.  A few seconds before the scene, green glasses flashed on the bottom of the screen and then a few seconds after the (about 15 minute) scene red glasses flashed telling you to take them off.  It was kinda cool.

After the movie we got back to the house at about 1:00 and I got stuck driving one of the guys we had out home… to Tacoma.  Talk about a long late-night trip :)  Got home about 3:30 and went to sleep.  Got up this morning and Angel needed a ride to North Bend (about 30 miles away) so I gave another charity trip.  All said and done I drove over 160 miles and used over a half tank of gas driving people around so far this weekend.  Ugh.  Oh well.

Later tonight there is a party of sorts that should help ease some of the stress :)  Hopefully some of my peeps that I haven’t seen for a while will be there so we can hang out.

Interesting Day

First off, my new camera should arrive today.  DHL Tracking sucks and skimps on details but, says delivery is July 20th.  Hopefully it will arrive in time for me to take up to Seattle this weekend.

Next, my team is going to Big Al’s for some fun-filled team building.  We’re leaving at 12:00 for lunch there and then we’re bowling from 1:30-3:30.  I really suck at bowling because I typically try to see how much spin I can put on the ball as opposed to how many pins I can knock down.  I think last time my 2-game total was around 100.

After bowling I’ll be departing for my aforementioned trip to Seattle.  I’m going up to hang out with the guys in KA.  Tonight there is a rush event; we’re going to dinner at 7:00 and then going to watch the new Harry Potter movie on IMAX.  The rest of the weekend will be spent chilling and working on recruitment/house stuff.

Finally, my parents are flying out tonight for week and a half cruise to the Caribbean.  They should have a LOT of fun!  That means my brother and I are charged with keeping the pets fed, the plants watered and the house (relatively) clean.  Next week should prove to be a quite one with half of the family gone.

Combing Keole

I decided to give our cat Keole a bath on Wednesday. Afterwards, I combed out some of her shed hair. She had a lot! That pile is bigger than her head by about triple.

Site redesign

If you haven’t noticed I redid the design of the site. Those using RSS to keep tabs on me should click here (self-referring link) and give me feedback. I am using unsleepable v2.0 optimized for WPG2 based on the unsleepable theme which is based on K2.

I did some modifications like changing it from pink to a sexy orangish color, making the top bar shorter and redoing the logo and my favicon. I also added a gallery using gallery2. Finally, I set up some url rewrites so that fun links like xijio.com/gallery and xijio.com point to the right places.

I’m interested in feedback, thoughts, suggestions etc. in the comments.

Beatles Love

Love cover
The Beatles Love Album
for Cirque du Soleil is really good. It’s nice to hear a great band completely remastered and remixed. It is like a tour from the beginning to the end of their careers. A whole bunch of great sounding music.
