My last three posts all had explamation points!

I need to calm down. Also, since I’m posting. Microsoft and NBC teamed up to stream the entire olympic games live in HD over the internet. Pretty damned cool if you ask me! nbcolympics.com/video/

New Shirt, Woot!

Got a surprise in the mail yesterday. The package was from shirt.woot. I saw it a few weeks ago and I liked it but, I didn’t bite. Then to my surprise yesterday this wonderful item arrived in my mailbox!

Kendall apparently ordered it like 10 days ago and woot just takes forever to ship. I am wearing today and I really like it! The woot shirts are really comfy and it fits really well. I also can’t get over how funny it is :-p

Busy weekend!

After work today, I’m spending the evening with Kendall. She wants to cook me dinner before we head to The Senate Concert at Cafe Solstice on the Ave. The concert starts at 9:00, doors at 8:30 so I’ll probably be there around then until it is over (scheduled to end at 11:00). After the show, we’re heading to KA to see what is up, there is supposed to be some pong action or something like that. We’ll see how that goes.

On Saturday Kendall has some sort of thing planned for me (she told me to keep Saturday open) so we’ll see what that is. Afterward we’re heading down the the Mariner’s game with the KA Alumni chapter. The Mariners suck but, baseball is baseball and it’ll be nice to see some old KA friends. After the game the plan is to go dancing at a 18+ club somewhere downtown or on Queen Anne with some KAs.

On Sunday, I’m heading over to Bainbridge to celebrate Kendall’s sisters birthday. I like Kendall’s family so it should be a fun time :) I’m excited to see how the weekend goes and I’ll try to take some pictures of the ordeal!

Speaking of pictures, I uploaded a whooooooole bunch to flickr so if you’re bored and looking for something to do, check out my photosets. You can also check them out here in the photo gallery.

Vistors!

It was a very interesting weekend for me filled with visitors from other worlds (or at least other parts of the state). It started Thursday when I was talking to Jim on IM and he told me that he was coming up to Seattle on Friday with Kira, Frank and Arlene to watch the Mariner’s game Friday night. On Friday I talked to Jim in the afternoon and he told me that they were on there way and asked if I wanted to hang out with them on Saturday since they thought it’d be to late after the game. I said that sounded like a plan and we decided we’d figure out what to do on Saturday.

After work on Friday, Kendall came over and surprised me by bringing me the ingredients for a keylime pie. I was missing a few things to make the keylime pie but, I was in the mood for baking so I made a casserole from some cream of chicken, canned corn, chicken breast and buttermilk bisquettes. I didn’t use a recipe. I just threw it together and when I took it out after 20 minutes the bisquettes were only half cooked, so I flipped em over on top of the rest of the casserole and rebaked them. When it came out the second time it was very good :) Afterwards we visitted Kendall’s mom at her work (Swedish Hospital) because her and Kendall had some stuff to discuss and then we headed back the the U-District so Kendall could get her copy of Breaking Dawn. We went the UBookstore at 11:50 and there were a bunch of nerdy high school and college girls there doing trivia and stuff about the book. They had punch and cupcakes which was a nice indulgence. It was nice because of where Kendall and I were standing next to the register she ended up being the 2nd person to get the book. She came back to my place and read for a couple hours before going to sleep.

On Saturday morning Jim called to let me know that they were going downtown to the Pike Street Market. I wasn’t really interested in going so I just lounged around my apartment while Kendall continued her book. Jim texted me and let me know that they’d be back to the U-District around 1:00 so we made plans to have lunch at The Ram in U-Village. We met Frank and Arlene and Jim and Kira there and had a nice lunch. It was nice catching up with the four of them and giving Frank and Arlene a chance to get to know Kendall. After lunch Kendall and I dropped by Victoria’s Secret so she could cash in her free pair of panties coupon and then we headed up to a park on 75th and 25th where she continued her reading and I lounged in the grass.

On the way to the park Tyler called me. I assumed he was returning my call from the day before where I was just asking what he was up to but, it turned out he was in Seattle for the weekend with Blake so after a while at the park, Kendall and I went and picked Tyler up from Blake’s house and we chilled at my place. Kendall took a break from her book long enough to have a long discourse with Tyler about her upcoming trip to Europe and all the places that he went to and that she is planning to go to. From there Tyler and I dropped Kendall off at home so she could do laundry and keep reading while we headed to Blake’s house for a little party. The party was more of a big drinking game. It was a fun game to learn but, really it just boiled down to chugging beer and rolling dice which left me less than sober. We went back to my place and crashed kinda early because Tyler was pretty tired.

Today when we got up, Tyler and I met Blake and Blake’s friend Bryan at Jimmy John’s where we had lunch. While there, I got a call from Malcolm informing me that he too was in town for the weekend because of a camping trip he had planned at Mt. Rainier. He met us at Jimmy John’s as we were finishing up and Tyler and Blake were leaving back to Bellingham. Malcolm and I went up to Subway so he could get lunch (Kendall works there too which made it more fun :) and then we went to Big Time for a beer. Afterwards we went back to my place where we watched a coupla youtube and break videos before he took off back to Vancouver.

In the span of a weekend I saw three of my good friends from out of the
area without having to do any planning of my own! It is nice when
things like that fall into place for you. This brings me to where I am now, blogging, uploading pictures to flickr and chilling half naked in my apartment.

August - Football, Microsoft, Pictures

It is already August. That is kinda crazy! One thing it means though is that football season is coming which excites me. I got my Husky season tickets last week so I’ll be at all the home guys and I’ve got a ticket for WSU. I’m also considering going to: USC, Cal, Arizona and Oregon but, we’ll see how money, how much flights are and what it looks like timing wise. Kendall got the school pack too so she’ll be at a lot of the games with me. I’m excited for that! I’m also interested to see how the seahawks do. I haven’t been keeping up with anything in the offseason so it’ll be a surprise for me.

August also means I’ve been at my new job for almost a month! I started July 7th as a Program Manager at Microsoft on the Dynamics CRM team. I’m working on a CRM feature called the Email Router which essentially helps manage how emails get in and out of the CRM system. I like my team quite a bit, they all seem like great people and I love the environment here. I’m still getting ramped up with all the ins and outs of the Email Router but, overall I’m really enjoying my time here. I finally got my first paycheck yesterday (seems like I haven’t been paid in forever) which takes a little financial stress off. I’m using my first several paychecks to make big dents in my pile of debt collected during college.

My trip to New York City was a month ago now. I still need to post pictures for that (and for a whole bunch of other things that I’ve done recently). I think maybe as I post pictures of events I’ll do retroactive blog posts about them. Yeah, yeah it isn’t as nice as if I did it then but, at least it’ll be online!

I’m excited to see what August brings, I know it will be a great month!

Livejournal Crosspost Test

I just installed a cool plugin for wordpress that automatically crossposts anything I write here to livejournal. This is to make it easier for those friends of mine that use livejournal extensively. It will force you to post comments here (mwahaha) but, if you use LJ to keep up with your friends, friend me to stay updated!

Plugin info:
LJ-XP (LiveJournal CrossPoster)

Oh, and here is a link to my livejournal page.

Edit: It worked!

I’m back

I just got xijio.com working again (for the most part). For now, I’ve just got this thing updated to the latest version of wordpress (2.6 as of writing) and I’ve got a different (more standard) theme set up. I’ll probably do some customizations to the theme in the near future too to make it more personal.

If you’re reading this then I’m happy you kept me in your RSS reader! I’ll write a long post soon updating you all on my life.

I’d like to increase my online presence and have gone through phases of doing well at it and phases of doing poorly. I’m hoping that this present venture will be successful :) I plan to get my photos on facebook/flickr and maybe even start updating twitter again (along w/ facebook). Most importantly I’m going to try to post here every once in a while ;)

Sleeping in my bed

I’m finally going to sleep in my bed tonight after two weeks of sleeping on the couch. Basically, I’ve been using my bed as a shelf for the last two weeks since moving back from my long stay at home in Vancouver and I finally got around to clearing it off enough to sleep on tonight. I look forward to the enjoyable 4 hours of sleep I’ll be getting before I start working tomorrow at 8am.

Also, I’m trying out MarsEdit as per this comment. So far I think I like Ecto better.

Google Search History

I have been using google’s search history on and off (mostly on) since Nov 2005. Since then I’ve logged 15,892 searches, quite impressive. Google ever so kindly provides nice data on my search history and I thought I’d share.

Top sites

  1. en.wikipedia.org
  2. www.washington.edu
  3. www.apple.com
  4. www.w3schools.com
  5. digg.com
  6. www.google.com
  7. sports.espn.go.com
  8. www.kappaalphaorder.org
  9. developer.apple.com
  10. www.php.net

Interesting. Wikipedia is on top because whenever I want to learn anything about anything I type “the_thing wiki” as a google search. This is because Google’s search is a lot faster than Wikipedia’s own search and putting “wiki” in the search string makes the wikipedia result the first (pagerank ftw). Washington.edu makes sense because I do “site:washington.edu” searchs a lot. Apple.com and developer.apple.com results top the 10 because instead of typing in apple.com/store I usually just google apple store and I did this quite a bit while I was looking t by my Mac and accessories the developer site was strictly for the ADC discount that I got on my Mac. W3schools and php.net are to serve my developer needs. I use google to search Digg stories I’ve seen because google’s search is much faster and more accurate that digg’s horrible search engine. ESPN is up there because I look up sports standings and scores all the time. The last result I haven’t mentioned is www.kappaalphaorder.org. The KA website is poorly structured and it is hard to find what I want so usually I just search “site:kappaalphaorder.org term_here”.
I find it very interesting that a large percentages of my google searches are very targeted (at apple, wikipedia, digg, kappa alpha order and the university of washington in particular) because the sites themselves are poorly structured or have bad built in searches. But alas, Google to the rescue!
