Parking ticket.

I got a $38 parking ticket for ‘blocking the sidewalk’. I drove the guys to Hooter’s last night and moved the dumpster into my spot, when I got back, someone had moved the dumpster back and taken my spot. Asshole. When I came back there was no parking so I parked in the back of the KA house (in what used to be paid-for parking spots last year). I planned on moving in the morning because I know we’re not supposed to park there anymore. I got out there at 10:00am and there was a ticket (timestamped 9:50, lame).

The ticket comment said I was blocking 2′ of sidewalk which was crap. I was blocking maybe 6″ of sidewalk and it was extremely easily passable. You could drive a golf cart in the available sidewalk space.

Furthermore the ticket it is paper and it was raining. Can’t they put it in some sort of bag or something? Parking enforcement people are worthless.

I’m going to try to fight it and see where I can get.

Jim and Kira are married

Congrats to them! The wedding was wonderful and I’ll upload all of the pics to my gallery and all of the video to viddler tomorrow at work (where I have super fast upload speeds).

edit: iPhotoToGallery failed me (it appears to be working fine but once it tries to start uploading nothing happens and then it times out and says it failed after uploading 0 files).  I don’t have time to mess with it now, I’ll investigate when I get home and then try again tomorrow.

Sick … update.

So yesterday I got sick of being sick and went to the doctor (walk in clinic at The Vancouver Clinic on Mill Plaine).  The diagnosis:  (drum roll) severe cold including upper respiratory infection and sinus infection… Ugh.  The doc prescribed me Augmentin (anti-biotic) and nasonex to help with sinus inflammation.  He also told me to stay on ibuprofen and acetaminophen, and antihistamines for the symptoms.

If you’ve been feeling sick lately after hanging around me, I suggest you go visit a doctor and see if you need some anti-biotics, I’ve been sick for 3 weeks and after 6 antibiotic doses I’m finally starting to feel a little better!

House update, new bank account and backpacking

I am still watching at least a couple of episodes of house per day.  I just finished S02E17.  Still liking the show, character development hasn’t failed to amaze.  Any bets on when I finish the series thus far?  Any recommendations for what to watch next?

On the money front, I opened an Electric Orange checking account through ING direct.  4% APY is much better than the 0% I get from my wamu checking.  I set my direct deposits from UW and from HP to go in to that account too.  Maybe I’ll make a couple of bucks while I’ve got money sitting around waiting to be spent on tuition and rent.

Finally, I’m going backpacking this weekend to Goat Rocks (super fun trip).  I’ll be going to Danner Boots and the leatherman factory this evening to buy a pair of boots and to get my leatherman belt  clip repaired.  Hopefully traffic isn’t too bad crossing 205 to get to airport way :)

4th of July recap

Managed to make it out alive.  Slight 1st degree burn from a fuse on my left hand, but other than that uninjured.  Dave got a pretty good burn on his hand and Malcolm was passed out in the yard for about 2 hours but, other than that, everything went well.

Attendees included: Adam Bjerke Lindsey (Adam’s GF), Dave Schmeller, Sam Brooks, Malcolm Staudinger, Jenna Caldwell, Jim Adams and Kira Meske.  Jim and Kira didn’t stay long because they had some wii action to attend to.

Overall, fun was had by most.  Although, they should give us the 5th of July off, not the 4th.  The festivities don’t start until after work anyway.  Oh well.
